Genomes
A genome is a collection of DNA sequencing files you upload for analysis. This guide covers uploading, tracking processing status, browsing your genomes, and understanding what you see on the genome detail page.
Requirements
Uploading genomes requires an active subscription. If you do not have one yet, the upload page shows a prompt to start your 14 days free trial instead of the upload form. You can compare plans on the subscriptions page. Genome data storage also consumes meter credits included in your plan.
Uploading genome data

Upload one or more sequencing files to create a genome. During upload you can set:
- File format - FASTA, FASTQ and plain text (.txt, .csv) files are supported
- Individual - the person or sample this genome belongs to
- Chemical form - whether the sample is DNA or RNA
- Taxon - the species of the sample, automatically resolved against the NCBI taxonomy
Processing status

Each genome moves through a clear status lifecycle:
- Uploaded - the files have been uploaded and stored
- Processing - the background pipeline is examining and analysing the reads
- Completed - processing finished and alignment results are available
- Failed - something went wrong during processing; you can retry
Browsing your genomes

The Genomes page lists all your genomes with their name, chemistry, number of files, total size, status and creation date. The list supports:
- Free-text search by genome name
- Filters for chemistry, species (taxon), status, file size and creation date range
- Page-by-page navigation for large collections
Genomes shared with you through a team are listed as well — their names are shown in a different color (olive-lime) to distinguish them from your own uploads.
Genome detail and reads

Click any genome to open its detail page, which shows:
- Identity information - name, individual, taxon, chemistry, status and creation date
- Reads - every sequencing file uploaded for this genome and its size
- Alignments - each aligned region with its chromosome, position, confidence and samples (see the Alignments guide)
- Ask AI - an AI assistant preloaded with the context of this genome
Deleting a genome
Deleting a genome removes its sequencing reads from storage, its alignments, the comments on those alignments and any cancer candidates detected from them.
