Ask AI
Ask AI is a conversational assistant embedded in the app that answers questions about your genomes, alignments and cancer candidates using the actual data on the page you are viewing.
Accessing the AI panel

Click the "Ask AI" button in the header of a Genome Detail page or a Cancer Candidate Detail page. A slide-in panel opens where you can type questions and receive answers in a chat conversation.
What the AI knows
When you ask a question, the assistant is given the following context about the current page:
- Genome metadata (name, taxon, individual, status)
- The selected alignment ranges and their confidence
- The diff statistics for cancer candidates
- Genes overlapping the affected region
- The comments attached to the alignments
Choosing a model
From the panel you can pick which frontier large-language model answers you, with models available from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Zhipu AI and Moonshot AI.
Conversations
Every chat is saved as a conversation that persists across visits:
- A sidebar lists all of your conversations, and selecting one loads its full history
- You can rename conversations so they are easy to recognise later
- You can delete conversations you no longer need
Limits
Each request is limited by the context window of the selected model. If your genome context is too long for the model, the panel warns you and you can try a model with a larger context window.
